GSA Resources, Inc. produces the CABSORB® product line of zeolites, and specialty clay products. GSA also provides consulting services on the uses and applications of specialty and performance industrial minerals.

 

GSA Resources, Inc. produces both activated and hydrated chabazite in several mesh sizes which are tailored to specific applications as well as several grades of clinoptilolite. Activated CABSORB ZC and ZS500A 4x8 mesh products are used in gas separation applications which require a high tolerance to acidic components in the gas stream. The product is the equivalent of Linde AW 500, and is related to LZ 218, Linde D, Linde R, SAPO-34, MAPO-44, MAPO-47, KZ-14 and ZYT-6.

CABSORB products are also used in ion exchange applications to remove ammonia and other cations from effluents. CABSORB ZS500 and ZC500 are highly selective for silver, lead, and other heavy metals. The product is the equivalent of the Linde Ion Sieve IE 96 which was used in the clean up of the radioactive effluent from the Three Mile Island reactor accident.

bulletGas Separation: CABSORB ZS500A has been used in sorption heating and cooling applications which use water as the heat transfer liquid instead of freon. Sorption heating and cooling can use oil, gas, wood or solar energy as the heat source.  Significantly sorption heating and cooling is more efficient than the freon-based conventional compression expansion systems. Bowie chabazite is superior to synthetic zeolites in this application because of its much higher rate of sorption and desorption, its resistance to degradation and its much lower cost.
bulletRadioactive Waste Treatment: CABSORB ZS500RW IS being used to remove Cs137 and Sr90 from low level radioactive effluents. Both products are highly selective for Sr90 and remove more than any other natural or synthetic zeolite product. Ion exchange resins are not used to treat radioactive effluents because the radiation destroys the resin.
bulletIon Exchange Applications: ZS500H removes 2.3 meq/gm or about 9 wt.% ammonia nitrogen from aqueous solutions. It recovers 21.9 wt.% silver, 15.3 wt.% lead, 3.2 wt.% copper and 2.8 wt.% cobalt. ZS500H used to recover silver from bleed off solutions at a hydrometallurgical plant loaded 18 wt.% on an hydrous basis.
